MOST people dream of looking into their letterbox to find no bills.

But for residents of Gingers Estate in Weston, no news is not always good news.

One family had its phone cut off when it did not receive the bill because Australia Post did not deliver to the cluster of streets.

An Australia Post subcontractor from the Metford Mail Centre drives his motorbike almost, but not quite, to the Gingers Estate.

This week, after some agitation from residents and calls from The Herald, Metford Mail Centre officers surveyed the site for delivery.

``According to the area manager, the area is serviced, it just doesn't extend that far," an Australia Post spokeswoman said.

She said a request for mail to be delivered had arrived that morning.

Australia Post has promised to look into the situation and expects to get mail delivered as soon as possible.

Bruce and Linda Hardy, two of the newest residents, will move into their dream home today.

As a final touch to the house, Mr Hardy bought a mailbox to celebrate the promise the post would finally be delivered.

``It's a real nuisance to go to the post office [in Weston] to pick it up," he said. ``The neighbours really found it annoying. I'm pleased it might be all worked out."
